Dance Offerings

International Folk Dance:

I teach ongoing international folk dances on Monday nights in Petaluma  as well as 6-week sessions at the College of Marin. The classes include dances from Serbia, Turkey, Rumania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Israel. All share a basic movement vocabulary, yet each country's dances have their own special flavor and style. I also teach 6-week session of Israeli dancing at the Osher JCC in San Rafael. Beginners and newcomers are always welcome; no partner is necessary.

World Rhythm and Movement:
I offer a fun, fast-paced curriculum for kids ages 6-12 combining rhythm, movement games, basic international folk dancing, world culture, and geography. I've been teaching these classes as part of Dance Palace Camp since 2009 and am available to teach single workshops or workshop series for your summer camp, classroom, or community group.

Family Dancing:
Dancing with your kids is a wonderful way to have fun together while introducing them to the wide world of international music and dance. There are many dances that are easy and fun for parents and children to do together, ranging from Syp Simeon (a hand-jive dance from Russia) to Singin' in the Rain (an easy follow-the-leader dance) to Ulili e (a lovely Hawaiian storytelling dance) to Ersko Kolo (a lively Serbian circle dance).

Line Dancing:
Line dancing is a social dance style in which a group of people dances a sequence of steps together, in unison, without holding hands. I teach traditional and contemporary dances in a variety of styles and to music from all over the world including Pata Pata from South Africa, the Cowboy Cha Cha, the Zydeco Shuffle.

Ballroom Dance:
I am available to teach workshops or private lessons in Salsa, Swing, Cha Cha, Rumba, Waltz, and Cajun.

Private Lessons:
Have you always wanted to learn how to do the Salsa? Would you like to start folk dancing but want a basic introduction? Are you getting married or going to a party where you'll need to waltz? I can offer private lessons, at your home or mine.

Wedding Dances:
Whether you just want to learn to do the waltz for your first dance or you're looking for choreography that goes with your chosen wedding song to dazzle your guests, I can help you out.

Parties and Celebrations:
If you are planning a birthday party, wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, or another kind of celebration, dancing is a great way to add to the fun. I can offer a family dance session, teach line dancing, lead your family and friends in fun Israeli dances, or get everyone doing a basic Salsa or Swing.
